Freedom 5K to Raise Scholarship Funds December 12

The Freedom 5K, a fundraiser to provide scholarship funds for the families of military men and women killed or disabled while serving in the armed forces, will be held at Old Trail Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, which administers the scholarships.

The run will wind through Old Trail on an all-terrain course that includes neighborhoods, the golf course and the nature trail. Runners and walkers of all ages are invited, and baby strollers and leashed dogs are also welcome. Awards will be given to top finishers and age-group winners. All participants will get a Freedom 5K T-shirt and a Freedom bracelet.

Register online at www.badtothebone.biz (a paper application can be printed and mailed), at Charlottesville Running Company (110 Old Preston Avenue in Charlottesville, 293-7115), or on the morning of the race from 7:30 to 8:45. The race will begin at 9 a.m.
