The warehouses of the former Barnes Lumberyard are being dismantled in downtown Crozet.

David Cline of Cline Contracting, based in Broadway, is dismantling the last two steel buildings that Barnes Lumber Company used to store its kiln-dried lumber. Cline said he found a date in one building’s concrete pad that dates it to 1986.

The buildings are now owned by Dynamic Aviation, a company based at the Bridgewater airport that specializes in refurbishing aircraft.

“They need taller buildings. These will be modified so they can get airplanes into them and they’ll be workshops,” said Cline, who will also do the reassembly. He predicted he needs three more weeks to finish the removal.
