Eagle Scout Mark Wiggans

Mark Wiggans has finished the “kiosk” box he built at The Meadows as an Eagle Scout project so that residents will have a place to find and post notices. Former manager Amanda Muir had told him the kiosk was badly needed. It has a plexiglass window to keep posters dry and is built to be easy to read by those in wheelchairs. The Meadows manager will control access to the box.

Wiggans also refurbished four benches in the community and had a crew of 12 helpers join him one day to weed and clean the landscaping around the community room’s front door.

Wiggans raised money for the project by holding a spaghetti dinner in the community room that netted $250. Wiggans served as the cook and waiter. Local businesses such as Crozet Great Valu, Harris Teeter, Blue Ridge Builder’s Supply and Sals’ Pizza contributed raw material to the kiosk cause.

A senior at Western Albemarle High School, he is the son of Richard and Christie Wiggans and is headed to engineering school at Virginia Tech, likely to major in computer science. He is a member of Troop 114, based at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Ivy. He said “snow sports” was the most fun merit badge he’s earned.
