Our Big Dream: Creating the Dandelion Seed’s Story & Art
During the month of December, Crozet Artisan Depot proudly presents the work of author & illustrator team Joseph Anthony & Cris Arbo. Our featured artists Cris and Joseph will be at the Second Saturday Opening Reception on December 9 from 3-5pm in the historic Crozet train depot. The event will include book signings and readings from their popular children’s books, The Dandelion Seed and The Dandelion Seed’s Big Dream.
The month-long show highlights the creative process behind the storyline and Cris’s gorgeous artwork. Cris will exhibit her vibrant, original illustrations which fill the pages of her various books. Joseph and Cris are residents of Buckingham County, VA and have collaborated on 3 children’s books.
Artist Cris Arbo has worked in New York and London as a background artist, tracer, and painter on animated feature films, half-hour cartoons, and TV commercials. She also worked as art director for the Dance Centre, Covent Garden.
A mother of four daughters, Cris continues to paint murals, book and magazine illustration, as well as advertising and private commissions. She has illustrated 7 children’s books, garnering over 40 awards and honors, including:

Author Joseph Patrick Anthony began writing after marrying illustrator Cris Arbo. He has authored 3 books illustrated by Cris, as well as a young adult novel. Cris and Joseph’s latest book, The Dandelion Seed’s Big Dream, is set in Charlottesville. The story not only follows the seed’s heroic journey but hints at humanity’s growing awareness of our role as environmental stewards.
