The editor is indignant at the theft of Mrs. Frances Hill’s step ladder and hedge clippers from her yard on McComb Street. For 89 years she has lived modestly and peacefully on her corner, keeping her neat little house and her tidy yard as a pleasure for all Crozet to see. She’s been a friend to all who pass her door. When her old step ladder, which she keeps in order to be able to replace her ceiling light bulbs, was stolen a couple of years ago, she charitably forgave the thief, thinking he must genuinely have needed it more. She bought a new one. Now it’s been ripped off. She said that’s it for buying ladders. It’s disgusting to think someone would steal from one of our sweet old ladies.
