2009 Western Albemarle High School graduate Seth Bowman is heading to Glenville State University in Glenville, West Virginia, to play Division ll football. Bowman was a two-way starter last year for the Warriors, playing quarterback, wide receiver and defensive end. He will pursue the QB position at Glenville State.
As a senior starter last year at Western, Seth played a vital role for Coach Ed Pierce and his play had a direct impact on the team’s success. He had standout performances last year against local rivals Fluvanna and Monticello. Against the Flucos, Bowman registered 115 yards rushing and a touchdown in a big Warrior victory. His top passing game came against the Mustangs, when he threw for 200 yards and a touchdown. He said he is looking forward to the opportunity to showcase his skills at the college level.
Former Western Albemarle Head Coach Steve Isaacs recommended Bowman to Glenville State and their recruiting effort ensued. The Pioneers expressed in interest in Bowman as a quarterback and from there things just fell into place. Bowman will be attending GSU with a partial scholarship and his major is undeclared. Bowman is excited about his new coach, stating, “Coach Fiddler is a real encourager and an upbeat sort of guy. He’s about teaching and molding good young men.”
Bowman reported to campus August 5 and the season starts August 27. Avid football fans may have heard of a former GSU coach, Rich Rodriguez, who’s now the head coach at the University of Michigan. Good luck Seth, and make the Warriors proud.
