Victory Hill Church of God, at 140 Patterson Mill Lane in Crozet, will celebrate Pastor Appreciation Sunday October 18, honoring Senior Pastor Stephen H. Mills and Associate Pastor Eric Morris.

For many years Mills served at the international offices of the Church of God in Cleveland, Tenn. Rev. Mills was traveling to Crozet on September 11, 2001, to assume his newly appointed position as pastor of the Victory Hill Church when he heard the news on his car radio of the horrible terrorist attacks. As horrific as the events of that day were, Pastor Mills arrived at a church in Crozet expectantly awaiting his arrival, certain that God had directed this man to Crozet for this time and for a special purpose. He and his wife, Becky and their three daughters, Adrienne, Cassie and Brianna, were received with much love.

In eight years, Pastor Mills has guided this local church into new paths of Christian ministry. The Open Doors Outreach Ministry Center has been initiated on St. George Avenue. This center provides a venue for an after-school care program, a summer day camp, youth ministry, prayer meetings, fellowship times, and community service projects. Pastor Mills has also developed an effective program of lay leadership in the church, with much of ongoing ministry of the church conducted under four “Pillar Leaders.” The four Pillars of ministry for the church are summarized by the acronym POWW, standing for Prayer, Outreach, Worship and the Word (Discipleship).

Under Pastor Mills’ leadership, the praise and worship team has grown in size and ability, and the music and worship ministry of Victory Hill has developed into one of the most outstanding distinctive features of the church. Through his well-studied, thought-provoking, and spiritually dynamic preaching, Pastor Mills consistently challenges the congregation of Victory Hill not only to grow in their personal Christian experience, but to also make a life-changing impact on the surrounding community.

Eric Morris along with his wife, Annie, and their two boys, Caleb and Isaac, make untold contributions to spiritual life at Victory Hill. Morris has been a member of Victory Hill since his youth and began his service as Youth Pastor and Worship Leader. Under Pastor Mills’ leadership, Eric became Associate Pastor, in addition to his full-time job as Director of the Victory Hill Preschool and After-School/Summer programs. With an unwavering servant’s heart, he can often be observed in the background, planning, preparing, and assisting in a multitude of ways. Gifted with great musical ability, he and Annie minister in song and praise and have been a great blessing and encouragement to all who hear their music and know their quiet passion for God.

We welcome our community to come celebrate with us!

  1. I would like to meet with you to see if there are ways Love INC can help Victory Hill in local mission work. Also, I would like to know if you would like to receive our “Alerts” of people making inappropriate financial requests from the churches in our area.
