WAHS Beautiful Boys Pageant Set for March 5

Western Albemarle High School will hold its Beautiful Boys mock beauty pageant/talent show made up of the male students Friday, March 5, from 7:30 until 10:30 p.m. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Rich Staron Fund at WAHS and to Doctors Without Borders for Haiti relief. The Rich Staron fund helps Western students who may not be able to pay for a field trip, prom dress, or other school event. Tickets are $5 at the door. The public is invited.

Free Flu Shots at Georgetown West March 19

Free flu shots will be available on Saturday, March 19 from 9 a.m. to Noon at Georgetown West Salon in Crozet. Georgetown West is located at 5785 The Square next to Mudhouse. Bring a friend or family member!

W. Douglas Gilpin, Jr. Lecture at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Greenwood March 26

Local architect W. Douglas Gilpin, Jr. will speak on, “Residences, Religion and Railroads” March 7, at 4 p.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal in Greenwood as part of the church’s 150th Anniversary Celebration. There is no charge and the public is invited. A second program on March 26, from 7 to 9 p.m., titled, “150 Years of Dancing” will look back at various dances held through the past 150 years at Emmanuel including the Minuet, Waltz, Tango, Charleston, Jitterbug, and Twist.

Benefit Dance For Jesse McDaniel March 26 at Charlottesville Moose Club

The family of Jesse McDaniel, the well-known wine manager at Crozet Great Valu, will host a dance in his honor at the CrozetCharlottesville Moose Club March 26 from 8 p.m. until midnight. Blue Country will perform and there will be 50/50 raffles. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10, at Bob’s Wheel Alignment on Market Street, or White Tire on River Road in Charlottesville. All proceeds go to Jesse McDaniel to cover his chemotherapy treatment and medical expenses. He has Stage 4 lung cancer and no life insurance. Crozet Garden Club Interest Meeting March 27

An organizational meeting for anyone interested in forming a Crozet garden club will be held Saturday March 27 at 4 p.m. at Old Crozet School Arts (the old Crozet elementary school). Come to the OCSA entrance in the right rear of the building.

Crozet Baptist Church to Host Easter Egg Hunt April 3

Crozet Baptist Church will hold its Easter Egg Hunt Saturday April 3 at 10 a.m. at the church. All community kids through the third grade and their families are invited to join in the fun. Bring your own basket. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Children will be divided into age-appropriate groups, along with their families, and given designated “hunting fields.” The hunt is expected to wrap up by 11:30 a.m. Crozet Baptist Church is located at 5804 St. George Avenue.
