The Rockfish Valley Kite Flying Festival will be held April 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Spruce Creek Park in the big field off Glenthorne Loop (Rt. 627) in Nellysford. There will be stunt kite demonstrations and performances set to music courtesy of members of Richmond Air Force, one of America’s premier kite clubs. Free dual line group lessons lasting ½ hour, depending upon wind, will be offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The first 100 children will receive free kites and assembly. Food for sale will be provided by Botali’s from Staunton. Picnics are encouraged. No rain date.
A star watch with members of the Charlottesville Astronomical Society, and their telescopes, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Rockfish River Trail Head on Rt. 151, two miles south of Nellysford.
