A team of Western Albemarle High School students won the 11-12 Grade Division of the YMCA tournament February 19 at Monticello High School. The team of ten seniors and one freshmen defeated another team of Western students in a double overtime contest for the championship. A number of the players have been playing together for years and a great team effort won two games on the same day, said assistant coach Rick Maupin. The players personified good sportsmanship, character and showed a genuine desire to play hard, exemplifying the goals of the YMCA in promoting its basketball program, he said.
