Troy Miller recently replaced the defunct 78-year-old barber pole outside the Modern Barber Shop as a birthday present for his wife, Lisa, the third generation of her family to work in the shop. Both her father and grandfather died there. The shop’s original pole, which would no longer light or turn, will be refurbished and mounted as a memento inside the shop, which is already something of a local history photo gallery.
