The Western Albemarle varsity volleyball team cruised to another Jefferson District win Sept. 27 over the Monticello Mustangs, winning in three straight sets (25-11, 25-12, 25-22) over their cross-town rivals.
Offensively, the Warriors were fueled by senior hitter Katie Rossberg, who had 14 kills and four blocks on the night. Junior Laura Bergin put together a strong showing at the net with 10 kills. Freshman hitter Keller Whitlock was perfect on the night, putting away all four of her attempted kills.
Senior libero Marin Crowder, an anchor of Warrior’s defense, had eight digs and senior setter Riley Martin had an outstanding 32 assists, while junior Marina Clark came up with a solid six digs. In addition to her 10 kills, Bergin’s presence was also felt on defense; she finished the night with six digs.
The Lady Warriors are now 9-0 in Jefferson District play.
