Run, Bike, or Walk; See Crozet and Win Great Prizes!
This year’s Crozet Trails Day will take place Saturday, October 15. Produced by the Crozet Trails Crew (CTC) and sponsored by local retailers and enthusiastic Crozetians, Trails Day will celebrate the network of trails that are being planned and built by the more than 170 volunteer CTC members in concert with the Albemarle County Parks and Recreation department.
Activities on Crozet Trails Day will include a 5k run on the Lindy Bain loop (start and finish in Old Trail Village Center), a kids’ Fun Run (approx. 1-mile), raffle, information booths, fitness activities, and a Pedestrian Challenge.
The Pedestrian Challenge will take place all over Crozet. The goal is to explore Crozet without the use of a car. Crozet residents and guests are invited to walk and/or bike to the participating businesses, schools, churches and other locations. The goal of the Pedestrian Challenge is to encourage Crozetians to experience how easy (or difficult) it is to walk and bike around Crozet; to your church, your kids’ school, the Farmers Market, etc. This adventure may also open your eyes to all the convenient hometown businesses we have.
At each location challenge participants will receive a raffle ticket. Tickets will be collected in several boxes around town (at Over the Moon Bookstore, Anytime Fitness, and Trailside Coffee) until 2 p.m. and the raffle drawing will be held later that afternoon. The more raffle tickets you collect, the better your chances to win. Raffle items are being donated by local businesses as well as by regional businesses that support our mission.
Although there will be signs around Crozet alerting drivers to the pedestrian activities, please walk/bike with caution and only take routes that you are comfortable with. Keep in mind that some locations will be accessible by either foot or bike, but not necessarily both.
To register for the Crozet Trails Day 5k trail run, go online to www.crozettrailscrew.org/crozet-trails-day. Online registration will be open until midnight Thursday, October 13.
Packet pick-up and late registration will be held Friday, October 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Trailside Coffee in Old Trail Village. Day-of registration will be at Trailside Coffee from 7:30 to 8 a.m.
Come out and show your support to “Connect Crozet.” Find out how you can become a trail-blazer and meet up with other like minded foot/bike traffickers!
