January 7: Delegate Landes Town Hall Meeting

Delegate R. Steven Landes, R-Weyers Cave, will hold a town hall meeting in Crozet to hear citizen comment on the upcoming Virginia General Assembly session on Saturday, Jan. 7 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Carriage House at King Family Vineyard, 6550 Roseland Farm.

Citizens can also fill out an online survey on legislative issues at Landes’ website, www.stevelandes.com.

Landes represents the 25th House District, which includes parts of Albemarle, Augusta, and Rockingham Counties and was recently elected to his ninth term. He also slated meetings in Fishersville and Harrisonburg.

January 18: Terra Voce at Crozet Library Soirée

Terra Voce—cellist Andrew Gabbert and flutist Elizabeth Brightbill—will return for a second year to Crozet Library’s Soiree series January 18 at 7 p.m. to explore musical expression from different places and times. The event is free. Soiree evenings are meant to allow informal conversation with guest speakers on a variety of topics.

On January 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the library will host a session on how to download, through the library, free audiobooks and ebooks to your computer, Kindle, Nook, iPod, or other similar electronic device. Registration is required for this program. Stop by the library or call 823-4050 to register.

January 24 & 26: Peachtree Sign-ups

Peachtree Baseball League registration will be held Tuesday, January 24 and Thursday, January 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crozet Park Building. Cost is $70.00 ($75 for Babe Ruth division). January 28: Redbirds Tryouts

The Albemarle Redbirds 14U Girls Travel Softball Team is looking for players for the spring/summer 2012 season, especially pitchers, and is expecting to add four or five girls to their roster. February 3: Crozet Elementary PTO Fundraiser

The Crozet Elementary School PTO will hold a silent auction and chili dinner Friday February 3 at the Old Trail Clubhouse from 6:30 to 9 p.m. to raise money for student and teacher programming at the school. A variety of items and services will be auctioned. Tickets are available for purchase in advance at Crozet Eye Care and Parkway Pharmacy for $5 each. Tickets will cost $8 at the fundraiser. A cash bar will be provided.

February 11: RVCC Sock Hop

The Rockfish Valley Community Center (RVCC) will host a winter sock hop Saturday, February 11 from 7:30 to 10:30. Tickets are $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

Those attending are invited to come in their favorite classic poodle skirt or just as they are. Local beer and wine will be available and there will also be an old-fashioned bake sale. Song requests may be made by emailing your request and name to Pat at [email protected]
