The four-way stop signs at the intersection of Crozet Avenue and Three Notch’d Road may cause some confusion to those of us who haven’t recently reviewed the DMV’s driver’s manual.
In its section on stop signs the manual states: “At some intersections you’ll find a sign beneath the stop sign that reads “All Way” or “4 Way.” At these intersections all vehicles on all roads leading into the intersection must stop. If you get to the intersection at the same time as other vehicles, the driver on the left must yield to the driver on the right.” (www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/pdf/dmv39c.pdf)
This implies that vehicles should enter the intersection in the order that they arrived at it, so that the vehicle that arrives first should proceed through the intersection first.
For the sake of courtesy to our neighbors, let’s keep this in mind as we travel through beautiful downtown Crozet!
