Col. Edwin Dooley of Virginia Military Institute, the biographer of Claudius Crozet, was back in Crozet last month following his November appearance here to give a lecture on the life of the town’s namesake, to set up an exhibit on Crozet’s life at Crozet Library.
“Claudius Crozet is a real hero of mine,” he explained.
The selection of mounted photographs includes a letter from Thomas Jefferson, written in a very neat hand, to Crozet explaining that Jefferson was not able to offer Crozet a teaching job at The University of Virginia. Another shows Villefranche, Crozet’s birthplace in France.
The exhibit is donated to the library and will be on display intermittently.
