Marie Goolsby passed early on Tuesday, August 21, at Cedars Nursing Home in Charlottesville. Born on May 24, 1934, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva Keiter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Raymond Danielson. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gordon Elwood “Junior” Goolsby Jr. on July 16, 2017.
Marie worked at Morton’s (ConAgra) and also the cafeteria at Acme. In her later years she was a child care provider for numerous children and some of her grandchildren in her home on Buck Rd. Marie is survived by her beloved sister, Joan Koerner of Baltimore, Md.; her beloved sons, Floyd and Bea Snow, Norman J. “Jimmy” and Lynn Snow, Raymond and Glenda Snow, David and friend, Velma Fisher, James Edward “Little Jim” Snow; and beloved stepsons, Gordon and Susan Goolsby, and Timmy and Barbara Goolsby.
She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Cedars Nursing Home for their compassion and care since Marie became a resident in March 2016. They are also grateful for the Hospice of the Piedmont for their compassion the past three months.
A funeral service was held at Anderson Funeral Home August 24. Burial followed at Wildrose Cemetary in Batesville. Grandsons served as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Sute 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
