Cecil Ashby Gibson was born February 9, 1947, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, to the late Elwood Eugene and Lena McAllister Gibson. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Elwood Gibson; sister-in-law Barbara Gibson; nephew Ricky Gibson; brothers-in-law Thomas Morris and V.L. James, Jr.
He is survived by the love of his life and mother of his children, Connie Clark; daughters, Tracy Gibson and fiancé Stewart Weaver of Deerfield, Va., and Katelyn Gibson and husband Hussam Subhi of Charlottes-ville; sons, Scott Gibson of Charlottesville, Jonathan Clark and Melody Clark of Stanardsville, and Michael Clark and Erin Morrell of Lynchburg; special grandchildren, Briana Marsh, Samanthia Stover, Logan Clark, Amaya Clark, Stewart J. Weaver, and Makayla Weaver. Also, surviving are five sisters, Rebecca Gibson Lively and husband Raymond of Charlottesville; Leura Gibson Crawford of Charlottesville; Peggy Gibson Morris of Scottsville; Dorothy Gibson Lively and husband Gene, of Charlottesville, and Betty James of Crozet; brother James Gibson and wife Evelyn of North Garden; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cecil was a lifelong resident of Charlottesville. He graduated from Lane High School, and was a dedicated employee of the ABC Department in Charlottesville for 28 years before he became ill.
A funeral service was held November 14, at Hill & Wood with Reverend Sarah Evancho officiating. Interment followed at Riverview Cemetery.
