Roger Wayne Sacra, 68, of Crozet, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019, from a battle with colon cancer. Wayne was a skilled brick mason, a left-handed mason, which is very unique. Wayne was born on April 3, 1950, in Louisa, Virginia.
Mr. Sacra was a veteran of the Vietnam war, having enlisted in 1968 in Company 6th Battalion, 2d Training Brigade, United States Army, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was discharged as Sergeant in 1972.
Wayne was proceeded in death by several family members. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cindy; his children, Michael Wayne Sacra, James Herbert Sacra “Jim” and wife, Leah, Sylvia Marie King and husband, Ryan, Roger Wayne Sacra Jr. and wife, Heather, and James Walter Sacra “J.W.”; and 12 grandchildren, Elijah, Jordan, Olivia, James, Laco, Teagan, Jarred, Mannesa, Andrew, Ella, Josh, and Jordan.
Wayne was a spiritual man as a member of Victory Hill Church of God/C3 in Crozet. He has traveled to Nicaragua, Chile, Honduras, and Guatemala for mission work.
Wayne was a devoted husband, father, Pop Pop, and friend to so many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to hospice caretakers from Hospice of the Piedmont, especially Kelly Ottman and Edith Thomas as well as Carolyn and Stephanie White and Christina Sandridge who have been by their side all throughout these trying times.
A funeral services was held March 7 at C3 (Victory Hill) Church proceeded by graveside service at Evergreen Church in Dyke, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville VA 22911.
