James C. Patterson

James C. Patterson, of Blauvelt, New York and recently of Crozet, died on May 13, 2019 at the age of 95.

He was born in Washington, D.C. on July 28, 1923 to Ira W. Patterson and Ann Clark Patterson.  He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Helen. He is survived by his son Dr. James W. Patterson, his wife Julie, and a grandson, James Wyatt Patterson, all of Charlottesville.

He graduated from Greenbrier Military Academy in Lewisburg, WV and Benjamin Franklin University in Washington D.C., since merged with George Washington University.  He served in the Army during World War II and was discharged as a Master Sergeant.  He remained in the Reserves and ultimately retired as a Major in the Adjutant General’s Corps.  

Mr. Patterson was employed by Merrill Lynch, primarily as a trader specializing in bank stocks, and later joined M.A. Schapiro & Co. Following his retirement, he worked for five years at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY, as Director of Development.

He was a life member of Rockland Country Club, and served as president and as a member of the Board of Governors.  He played golf for over 80 years, winning the club championship and the senior championship on a number of occasions.

A memorial service and burial will be planned for a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Piedmont.
