The April Winter Farm and Craft Markets must shut down with the health concerns we are required to address.  To support local farms and also help the community avoid stressful visits to the grocery store, Rockfish Valley Community Center (RVCC) is working to connect local vendors with those who need fresh food products.   The farmers and small-business food producers in Nelson County are now struggling with the loss of wholesale accounts as restaurants close and most shoppers are tired of finding stores are out of meat, produce, or bread.

Since March 26, RVCC has served as a pickup location for local vendors.  Customers can place pre-paid orders with participating vendors, then come pick up their packages at RVCC.  Those who cannot risk leaving their homes, can request a volunteer to bring packages ordered from RVCC to homes in the Rockfish Valley.

This is not an on-site shopping market. The goal is to give the community access to food with minimal risk. Identified vendors must be contacted to place an order ahead of time and make payment online or over the phone.  Agreement with the vendor determines if you will pick up in person or require delivery, so orders may be appropriately packaged.  The pickup locations at RVCC will be sanitized, supervised, and organized to adhere to recommended social-distancing measures.

RVCC facility will be open for weekly pick-ups from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Please contact the vendor directly to find out when your package will be available at RVCC.  Home delivery times are dependent on volunteers.

This new service will continue every Thursday for as long as the need remains.  More local vendors will be added in the coming weeks.
