Crozet Lions Carry on Despite Pandemic

The Crozet Lions have announced their officers for 2020-2021: Edna Lumley as president, Becca White as treasurer, and Paul Dowell as secretary.

Lions are taking on the challenges of the COVID stay-at-home with the usual Lion can-do spirit.  Regular meetings are still held on the second and fourth Monday of each month, but now virtually, through email. Meetings begin with a YouTube rendition of “My Country Tis of Thee” and a blessing. All then enjoy a fantasy meal. The entertainment for the evening is a video about Lions activities or items of local interest. Reports and business items are presented and approved.  Meetings close with members sharing things they are “happy” for. All this by one email.

Crozet Lions have had to cancel their major traditional spring and summer fundraisers: the Pasta Dinner in March and their famous Hot Dog Sales at both the Arts and Crafts Festival in May and the Crozet Fourth of July Celebration. Chiles Orchard kindly found a way to help the club sell some peach ice cream at their orchard stand in August. But it is primarily through the generous contributions of members that the Lions will still be able this year to support their causes both nationally and locally.
