Claude H. Saul

Claude H. Saul

Claude H. Saul, 88, passed away on April 27, 2021 at his home in Crozet, VA.  He was the husband of Patty Saul with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

Born in Doylesville, VA, he was the son of the late Landon and Vertie Saul.  He graduated from Crozet High School and was drafted into the US Army as a medical assistant, where he had the chance to visit Europe while stationed in Germany.  Upon discharge, Claude attended the Jefferson School of Commerce.  He worked at S&S Food Center and Crozet Foods in the meat department.  He would later purchase Crozet Foods where he worked alongside Patty, his boys and many special employees. He retired, for the first time, after 25 years in business.  His second career was spent working in the guest services department of the Boars Head Inn for the next 15 years.

Claude’s favorite thing to do was work.  In his “spare time” he enjoyed yard work, growing vegetables in his gardens and sharing the abundance with others.

Claude was preceded in death by his brother, Landon Thomas Saul Jr. and his wife Helen.
Claude is survived by his wife, Patty, and his boys, Tim (Kristin), Adam (Keshia), and Landon (Kathryn), and a very special granddaughter, Adeline, who loved her Pop-Pop.  He was so excited to meet his twin grandchildren that are due to arrive on April 29 but he got to see them in a dream a week prior to his passing which made him so happy.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers, Hospice of the Piedmont, family, friends who have helped Claude and Patty over the past few years.  There are too many to name individually, but each one of you were so special to Claude.

A graveside service was held on Friday, April 30, at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church in White Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crozet Baptist Church, 5804 St. George Ave., Crozet, VA. 22932 or Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, 4524 Garth Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
