Simrat Saini was awarded Eagle Scout rank at a Court of Honor held at Mint Springs Valley Park May 1. In the photo above he is joined by his parents, Rinku and Kamaljeet Saini and Troop 79 Scoutmaster Gary Conley. Saini’s Eagle Service Project was to design and build two picnic tables (one octagonal) and two 32-gallon trash can holders for Crozet Elementary School. The project took 275 hours of labor contributed by 28 individuals.
Ethan Moore was likewise awarded Eagle rank at a ceremony at Camp Shenandoah in Swoope on March 28. Ethan’s Eagle Scout Service Project was to design and construct a large, three-bay storage container for dirt, clay, and gravel as well as a picnic table on a poured concrete slab at Claudius Crozet Park. Moore was joined by 32 persons who contributed 258 hours of labor.
The Scouts financed their projects by soliciting contributions and store discounts.
Troop 79, sponsored by Crozet United Methodist Church, has produced 84 Eagle Scouts since it was formed in 1950, including 32 in the last 10 years.
Gary Conley has been Scout-master since August 2005.
