Clyde Junior Garrison of Stuarts Draft, Virginia passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2021 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.  

He was born on July 29, 1942 in Charlottesville.  Clyde grew up in Albemarle County, VA.  He graduated from Albemarle High School in 1961.  He proudly served in the U. S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965.  He served as an Airman 1st Class in the transportation squadron, serving as a driver for the Kennedy Administration at Otis Air Force Base and serving on temporary duty assignment in Tripoli.  He worked as a driver for United Parcel Service from 1966 to 2005 primarily driving double-trailer overnight runs.  At the time of his retirement, he was the longest employed UPS driver in Virginia.

Clyde was a friend to all.  He welcomed everyone with a smile and enjoyed conversation with those known to him or not.  He was a hard worker with a warm heart who enjoyed sports, especially baseball, gardening and taking care of his home.  He was an avid fan of UVA athletics.  Above all, he loved his wife and family and will be missed dearly by all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lairdy Garrison, Jr., and his mother, Classie Lewis Garrison.

Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Wanda East Garrison; his daughters, Susan Gartrell (David) of Goleta, CA and Kelly Donato (Brian) of Crozet; his son, Matthew Scott Garrison (Wendy) of Sussex, NJ; his stepsons, Kevin Coyner (Kaye) of Waynesboro, and Kris Sacra (Danielle) of Staunton; seven grandchildren, William Gartrell, Nicholas Donato, Charlotte Donato, Amanda Hashagen (Scott), Mackenzie Sacra, Alexis Sacra and Reagan Sacra.  He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Ava, Kaden and Jacob Hashagen; his sister, Ellie Garrison Vess of Staunton, his brothers, Dewey R. Garrison (Karen) of Easton, CT and Alvin E. Garrison (Marina) of Oakland Park, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.     

A memorial service was held May 21, at the Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren in Waynesboro.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mike Fields, Allen Beiler, and Noah Yoder who helped care for him with kindness and compassion.
