RVCC Master Plan

The Rockfish Valley Community Center (RVCC) has a new Master Plan for its grounds, drawn gratis by landscape architect Jessica Mauzy of Land Planning Design Associates in Charlottesville.

Gazette readers are familiar with Mauzy from her years on the Crozet Community Advisory Comittee and as founder of the Crozet Trails Crew. She moved to Nellysford in 2019.

The plan includes pickleball and basketball courts with a crushed gravel path separating them; a paved perimeter path that will accommodate pedestrians, bikes, strollers, and skateboards; and a redesigned playground with benches for caregivers. The parking and drop-off areas will be improved as a circle drive entrance leading to the ADA-approved path. Signage will be updated as replacements are needed. The plan incorporates an existing design by Susan Viemeister for a shaded picnic area.

The first step in implementation is the relocation of the skate park. Fundraising is under way and bids from contractors are being sought. RVCC receives no funding from Nelson County.
