Betty Garwood Clayton, of Mechums river, passed from this life to be present with the lord on January 29 2023.
She was born on January 12,1935 in Afton Virginia. She was the daughter of Nellie Goode and Frank Garwood, who both preceded her in death. At the age of 9 she received Christ as her Lord and Savior. She loved him and his word.
She attended Greenwood school and graduated from there in 1952. Betty and Sonny Clayton, her childhood sweetheart , were married on May 29 1954. They had a wonderful son Timothy who lives in in Panama City Florida. He and his wife Lynn have four very wonderful children, Bryant, Micaylee, Ethan and Everett. Sonny and Betty were greatly blessed by a devoted loving daughter Betsy Laurie , who was her best friend. Her former husband Tom DeNome blessed them with their first grandchild, Nicholas DeNome. Betty and Sony loved their children and grandchildren very much. Their daughter has a very special friend, Jeff Henry who is very devoted to the family.
Betty had many fond memories of her two brothers, Arthur and James and a sister, Margaret who proceeded her in death. She loved to tell story of her good family life and how her early teachings helped make her the person she was.
Betty cherished her cousin and other relatives as wells her many friends. She loved life and loved people wherever she went.

The viewing will be from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Anderson funeral home in Crozet on February 2, with grave site service at Holly Memorial gardens at 1 p.m.
