I certainly concur with those who deplore the renaming of the Meriwether Lewis School. Albemarle County has four sons of whom to be very proud. Thomas Jefferson, the Clark brothers, George and William, and Meriwether Lewis. What would American history have been if they had not? The current fashion seems to be to downgrade history. But I view it as the basis for our life and future.
I am very proud to have recently visited the grave of Mr. Lewis, which is marked most suitably.
