The Crozet Park Board of Directors is collaborating with the University of Virginia Master of Science in Athletic Training program to introduce and practice an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) on Sunday, April 23, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Claudius Crozet Park.

The goal of this simulation is to have a tested plan of action in case of a true emergency, thereby ensuring the safety of patrons who use Crozet Park for fitness and athletic activities, e.g., baseball, soccer, swimming, and community functions. It is also intended to facilitate enhanced communication between patrons of Crozet Park and the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department, the University of Virginia Pegasus program, and the Western Albemarle Rescue Squad.

Following a brief presentation of the Crozet Park EAP to the park’s Board of Directors by University of Virginia graduate athletic training students, the EAP simulation will commence at 3 p.m. Activation of the EAP will include firetrucks, a helicopter landing, and additional rescue personnel to simulate an emergency medical service call.

Members of the public are welcome to come and observe the outdoor activities beginning at 3 p.m. Again, please note, the events that will occur on April 23 between 2 and 4 p.m. are a simulation.
