Peachtree League ball players are taking the field this season with #14 on their chests. That’s their tribute to their teammate, Weston Herndon, a nine-year-old brain cancer patient. For now, Weston is home with his mother and father, Megan and Matt Herndon, and his brothers, Walker, 7; Whitman, 4; and Warren, 7 months.
According to Weston’s aunt, Ashley Herndon Miller, Weston has been resting and enjoying family time since he completed radiation and his first round of chemotherapy at National Children’s Hospital in D.C.
He’ll return this month to begin a second round of chemotherapy and join a clinical trial, but these will likely be day trips rather than the week-long stays that were previously necessary.
Those interested in keeping up with Weston’s condition and supporting the family can find details on the “Weston’s Warriors” Facebook page.
