On September 18th our beloved Gloria Crawford (Strickler) Watson was promoted to glory. Many knew her as Mom, Grandma, GiGi, or Glo. She was born December 18, 1941 to Alma and Leslie Crawford. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by daughter Stacy Strickler, sister Sandra Campbell, husband Alvin Watson, ex-husband Maynard Strickler, and several dear in-laws.

She is survived by daughters Dana Strickler, Vicki Collier (Thurman), and Robin Hester (Steve), sister Colleen Herndon (Carson), brother-in-law Dennis Campbell, and many in-laws in Davis, Strickler, and Taylor families whom she loved dearly. Her grandchildren: Ashlynn, Erica (Tim), Casey, Jacob, Tyler (Allison), Travis, Dante (Mary); Great-Grandchildren: Tatum, Jessa, Quinton, Judah, Griffin, Rosie, Braden, Cassius, Leo, Zimri, and Brianna.

She was a career-long worker at State Farm Insurance as well as a member and deacon of Mountain Plain Baptist Church.

She has been described by her family as the rock, a quiet nurturer, one of the hardest working women they knew, and a woman who loved God and her family. She enjoyed laughing until she cried. A verse that describes her well is Proverbs 31:31: “honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

A “come as you are” casual celebration of life was held September 25 at Crozet Baptist Church with Dr. Sam Kellum and Pastor Thurman Collier.

Donations if you feel led: The Caring Ministry at Crozet Baptist, Leukemia Society, The Paris Project at City Point Restoration COG (cprcog.net) or Mtn. Plain Baptist Church.
