The Crozet Chorus Holiday Concert was presented to a standing-room-only crowd at Crozet Baptist Church on December 3. Under the direction of Addie Walton with piano accompaniment by Joyce Polifka, the Chorus delivered a glorious (no pun intended) rendition of Vivaldi’s 10-part Gloria cantata, with soloists Meghan Willey and Ashley Seminaro of JMU and instrumental accompaniment by the Charlottesville High School String Ensemble. After an intermission to move the piano and instrumentalists’ chairs, the Crozet Community Handbell Choir joined the Chorus for several magical, chiming songs including “Carol of the Bells” and “Ring Out, Wild Bells,” a musical setting of Alfred Tennyson’s poem. The musical extravaganza was followed by a Christmas Pops sing-along, with enthusiastic audience participation. The Crozet Chorus is a non-auditioned, secular, educational and community outreach organization devoted to a greater appreciation of choral music. All of its concerts are free.
