Dozens of volunteers moved hundreds of pounds of clothing, kitchen items and small appliances from the Green Olive Tree’s old location to its new home in the Music Today building. Other volunteers took down cabinets and shelving and installed them across the street in time for the August 1 grand re-opening.

Long-time volunteer Janet Martin said she wanted to thank everyone involved in the move. Manager Barbara Kellum said there were 40 to 45 volunteers working over several weeks to make the transition go smoothly.

Kellum acknowledged the parking situation is a challenge, asking that only those who are disabled use the two designated handicapped parking places. The nonprofit, which has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to community charities, is working with VDOT on ideas for pedestrian safety.

Kellum and Martin said there would be further changes made possible by the increased space. They asked their donors and clients to follow announcements on Facebook and at greenolivetreecrozet.com.

The new Green Olive Tree thrift store is across from the old building, which is scheduled to be demolished. Shoppers are asked to park in the area designated on the graphic.
