Crystals, Textures, and Flowing Glazes: Pottery by Leah Olivier

September 8, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

During the month of September, Crozet Artisan Depot proudly presents new ceramic work by Depot artist Leah Olivier. Leah will be at the Second Saturday Reception on September 8th from 3-5pm in the historic Crozet train depot.

Leah’s month-long show and sale will showcase both hand-built and thrown pottery. Her artwork includes intricately textured hand-built vases, dishes, and plates as well as wheel-thrown mugs, vases and plates. The artist uses a variety of glazes in completing her work, such as a crystalline effect on decorative plates and also flowing glazes that look like Carmel latte and chocolate on mugs and serving dishes.

Artist Bio
Leah Olivier is a multi-media artist. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University and a Masters in Education from Longwood University. Leah has worked in both graphics and illustration in New York City and has been active as a teacher for many years. She now owns and operates Olivier Studios in Cumberland, VA which allows her the opportunity to pursue her many interests in teaching, painting, drawing, jewelry, and pottery.
“Working the clay with my hands is quite hypnotic. The glazing phase offers a fascinating opportunity to work with color, textures, and crystals. It is a wondrous combination of science, luck, and magic when it all comes together!”
