Second Saturday Art Opening: Art on the Trax; 4-6pm, FREE
November 10 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pmFree
Art on the Trax will feature artwork by Amy Shawley Paquette and Tom Paquette during the month of November.
Amy Shawley Paquette is a visual artist whose painting and illustration is inspired by the natural world. Her work incorporates fauna, flora, landscapes, and textures she has encountered during her travels and daily adventures in the countryside. Her new work features a series of birds painted from her own photographs of Warblers, Cardinals, Jays, and other backyard favorites.
Amy lectures for both Golden Paints and Williamsburg Oils, teaches art workshops nationally, offers online education, and published her first book Acrylic Texture Techniques: Rock, Metal & Wood in 2015. Her art, videos, and tutorials can be found at www.amyshawley.com
Tom Paquette enjoys the idea of capturing an image of an animal or person existing in a miniature world. Nature objects, creatures, plants, and fungi are magnified and become part of the story as they interact with a “mini”.
Tom’s love of photographing mini figures began several years ago when he saw a few of them sitting on a kitchen table. Fueled by his love of the outdoors and timed with his discovery of Instagram, he started setting up mini nature scenes he could photograph and post on the social media platform. As his passion was reinforced by encouragement from his friends, he kept adding more mini figures to his collection and continues to seek out adventurous places to photograph them.
Tom and Amy reside in Troy, VA with their son and are excited to be showing their work together for the first time.
Please join us for a Second Saturday Opening Reception on November 10th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. This reception is part of Crozet’s Second Saturday events. We will be serving up The Art Box’s famous ice cream sundaes topped with fruit from local orchards.
