Third Thursday at The Lodge: America and the World in the Age of Jefferson
March 16 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
How to keep a new nation alive in a global war and threats from every direction? “America and the World in the Age of Jefferson” explores ways the Founders managed war and diplomacy and how threats to American independence after the Revolution helped create our Constitution and political parties. That America survived Napoleon, the War of 1812, and threats of invasion is a result of the clever strategies American leaders devised to confront a dangerous world.
Dr. James R. Sofka is a specialist in international relations in the Founding Era and has taught for the Brookings Institution, Monticello, the Federal Executive Institute, and the OLLI Foundation and Politics Department at UVA.
