Community Dialogue Addresses Democracy and Civic Engagement
Want to learn more about what the League of Women Voters of the Charlottesville Area does to strengthen our democracy and to engage citizens in this effort? Visit The Center at Belvedere in Charlottesville on September 17, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm for a Community Dialogue called “We Are the League!”
Dr. Steven Farnsworth, Professor of Political Science and International Affairs and Director of the Center for Leadership and Media Studies at the University of Mary Washington, will address current Virginia politics, and how state actions are affecting policy in Charlottesville. The League’s current committee chairs will then describe how their committees get work done and promote civic engagement. An opportunity to greet members and committee chairs will follow.
The public and all current League members are invited to participate in this important discussion. The free event will be held at The Center at Belevdere, 540 Belvedere Blvd, Charlottesville, VA 22901, where ample parking is available.
Founded in 1920, the League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League looks forward to continuing its mission with this event.
