Your Vote Matters!

October 14, 2021 - November 2, 2021

Voting is the heart of our democracy, and the time to do so is here. The Charlottesville Area League of Women Voters urges you to participate. Your Vote Matters!

Ways to Vote?
• Request ballot on or before October 22. Return by mail, drop-box, or polling place on or before November 2 (Be sure to include required witness signature on your ballot!)
• In-person at your city/county registrar’s office on or before October 30
• In-person at your polling place from 6 am to 7 pm on Election Day, a new state holiday, on November 2.
• Call or visit your local city/county registrar’s office website*, elections.virginia.gov, or VOTE411.org for details.

Why vote?
• In this year’s November election, Virginia voters will choose a new governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and all House of Delegates members. Also, candidates for open seats on many local city councils, county boards of supervisors, school boards, and other town positions will be selected.
• Through fund allocations, new and amended laws and regulations, and short and long-term planning, winners of these elections will have the power to shape the future for Virginians. Issues you might have concerns about—climate change, school funding, gun violence prevention, equal rights, justice reform, affordable housing, to name just a few—could be affected. Voting gives you the power to help elect individuals whose views most closely align with your own.
• Visit candidate websites or Vote411.org for possible information on their stances on various issues.
